LOVE VERSES

CONSUMED

Imperial flame
Fire of Love,
Torch me
Till I am
Comsumed…

Urn-clad ashes
Memorial remain:
Love’s sacrifice
Immortal.

THE GATHERER

I gather
Your
Facial
Expressions
And
Gestures
As
Crumbs,
I
Myself
Becoming
An
Ant,
Pull apart
And
Drag
From
My
Memory
Every
Morsel.

I have
Stored
Them
For the
Time
Of
Famine
To
Come.

Then,
I
Will
Feast
Upon
The
Shape of
Your eyes
And become
Satisfied
With
The fullness
Of
Your lips.

RENDEZVOUS ETERNAL

There is
A sweet spot
Of melting,
Coming together.
No need
For words
We just
Enter in
You and me
Into the
Sweet spot
That is
Our love.
Unspoken
Arena
Where
Oneness
Reveals
Itself
As the
Soul’s
Master.

Let us
Therefore
Once again
Immerse
Ourselves
Into
The Mystery
Of oneness…
Let us go
Quickly
Then,
My beloved
That we may
Enter into
Our
Rendezvous
Eternal.

THROUGH TIME
AND SPACE

Through time
And space
I will
Come to you.
When you
Send for me,
I will come.
No evil
Spoken
Of you
Shall stick
To my heart,
For love you
I will
Always.

No heinous
Plot to
Separate us
Shall ever
Secure my
Consent.
To deny you
Is to deny
Myself.
If we fail,
It shall
Not be
Because
I would not
Love you.

Through time
And space
I will
Come
To you.
There are
No partitions
That can
Separate
Those with this
Kind of love.

FUTURE PERFECT

Somehow
My timing
Is off
By one
Or more
Degrees
To the
Left
Or to
The
Right.
I cannot
Tell
Which.
I know
You are an
Important
Person
In my life
In a
Future perfect.
But…
My time
Has not
Yet come.
I cannot
Reach you.

Alice Parris                                                               THE TWO SIDES OF YOUR LOVE

Your love
Is like
A
Creme
Brulee
Served
On
Silver
Tray
Carried
By
White-
Gloved
Hands
With
Red rose
Bud
In
Place
In a
Lalique
Vase.

Your love
Is like
A
Dark-
Chocolate
Truffle
Filled
With
Tears:
Bittersweet
And
Difficult
To eat.

YESTERDAY’S FEAST

It was
Night
When
I knew
You did not
Love me.
It was not
The harlot
Nor exotic
Creature
Who held
You…
Twined in
Her lush
Tresses.
It was
Memories
Too Painful
To bury,
Places
Too
Tender
To touch
I stood
Outside:
A beggar
Viewing
A feast
That had
Been eaten
By the
Ghost of
Yesterday
Past.

MY HEART

My mind,
My mind
Is a
Sampson
With
Waist-
Length
Hair.

My body,
My body
Is an
Aphrodite
With
Luscious
Snare.

My spirit,
My spirit
Is an
Eagle
Powerful
And
Rare.

My heart,
My heart
Is a
Little girl
With
No one
To care.

CONTRITE COURTESAN

I cannot
Let you
Touch me;
Your power
Is mighty
As you
Wield it
Towards
My open
Heart.
I cannot
Let you
Touch me,
For I am
Mortal
And
I fear
Annihilation.
I cannot
Let you
Touch me
With your
Magic words
And your
Skillful hands.
I cannot
Let you
Touch me,
For my
Heart
Is a
Contrite
Courtesan,
A penitent
Mistress.

LOST ULYSSEUS

Too many
False gods
Have
Separated
Us…
Too
Many
Journeys
With
Shard-

Too many
Days
Of
Waiting.

A Penelope
Hopeless
Has

Love
A lost
Ulysses.
Alas,
My love,
My desired
Destiny,
The gods
Of love
Have
Separated
You

WHEN YOU LOVED ME

When you loved me
I was as a spirit
Set on high,
Soaring at will.
No currents
Could override
The strength
You gave these
Wings of mine
When you loved me.
I was light
And love;
I was music
And muse.
Life at its
Cruelest had
Become beauty
Itself…
When you loved me.

It was then
My eyes beheld
The ill-fated
Piece…
Unraveling the
Lower side of truth:
I understood that
The perfection of
An exquisitely
Adorned world
With all of its
Sumputousness
Was reality
Only when reflected
In your eyes…
When you loved me.

THE CITADEL

I have spent my years
A citadel, locked up,
Impenetrable…
Where only fools or
The stout of heart
Dare to gain access
To my inner recess:
A fortress fortified with
Wise walls of protection.
Total devastation
Was not possible.
Neither love nor hate
Could access the
Inner sanctum of
My sanctuary
Where all life
Began and resides…

You came offering
Me love so pure,
So splendid,
So
Noble in character,
That my citadel
Became a living
Breathing wall where
The exchange was made.
You touched me in my
Impenetrable place.
I wept at the way
You loved me.
I wept…
Relieved

LOOKING OUT FROM
COLD MOUNTAIN

Tourmaline-
Green silk damask
Curtains hang heavily
From the weight of dust mites,
Entrenched
Yet undetected.

Cobwebs in the corners;
Like lonely Ghosts.

Neatly mounted gold rings
Part the curtains into shoulders:
Golden braided epaulettes.

Diffused sunlight
Streams through dirt-caked windows.
She sits at her piano.

She has found true love,
Arriving at truth
By unenviable longing.

She wonders if she can will
Him to live, if her need
Will bring him back.

There is a fire
In the portals
Of her soul: a hot-blue flame.

The dark world of death,
Staved off by the notes of a
Life-song.

There is hope,
Looking out from Cold Mountain.

ABOUT DEATH THREATS AGAINST OBAMA & VIOLENCE AGAINST SUPPORTERS

What this election has done is to push cowardly racism to the surface of our society. This has been a dirty little secret submerged underground by those in power and uneducated bigots, alike. The only glimpse that we have gotten to see, since the Civil Rights Movement, have been isolated cases and an occassional surreal visual on the Jerry Springer show. Nevertheless, the recruiting going on with the Aryan Nation/white supremacist groups has hit an all time high with the election of President Obama. Those who threaten are obviously unaware that the same measures used to detect the presence of terrorist activities within the United States, will flush them out, as well.

Lately, there has been the tragic case of a woman who drove from Oklahoma to join a “wannabe” KKK initiation ceremony ninety miles north of New Orleans. When she changed her mind in the middle of this ceremony, she was killed, her possessions burned and she was dumped along the side of the road with bungling brush to cover her. It was quickly discovered that this group (who recruited this young woman from the internet) was not a part of the infamous KKK. It was just a group of angry, uneducated racists who were itching for violence against blacks. If this is what they do to potential recruits, how dare they call their mandate “a God-given right?”  It is absurd.

Sarah Palin has blood upon her hands, yet she is still being courted and followed. I’ll bet that she is losing more sleep over the $150,000.00 worth of clothes purchased by the RNC than she is about the $150,000.00 worth of guns bought at one store in Tennessee the day after the election. Governor Sarah Palin, while plowing through the lower forty-eight, stirred up the darkest elements of fear in people who were afraid of change-they liked things just the way they were (before the economic bottom fell out.) Nevermind, the country had been sacked by the greedy, leaving only the needy to fend for themselves. Nevermind, the entire global economy had been destabilized under a Republican administration.

What was needed was a “scapegoat.” I believe that the “white is right” crowd will act out upon blacks, because ninety-five percent of blacks stood for hours to vote because they could! These Aryan nation/white supremacist groups were already getting geared up because of the perceived “illegal immigration” threat. Now that there is a President-elect Obama, they have their fuel for violence against all non-white citizens whom they feel might have voted for President-elect Obama.

I just read an article which expressed the frustration of these groups who claimed to have built this country and were not going to sit by and let it go to the blacks. News flash: the soil of this country was fertilized by the blood of the many extinct Native American tribes that existed here for centuries before Europeans came and was built up by the hands of black slaves. Even the White House had to do with the working hands of slaves. Threatening young black children, vandalizing and desecrating the property of black families and random violence cannot change this. Now is the season for the back of racism to be broken in the earth. The religious spirits who hide an agenda of racism will be exposed for what they are.

Those who are on talk show radio who malign President-elect Obama will begin to experience personal losses. Those who use the media to continue to divide and not reconcile will be left by a world more concerned with staving off food shortages, than picking on a race or group of people due to ethnicity or religion.  Bigotry has got to stop. All hate groups who are recruiting will be caught by the authorities. Isolated acts of violence will be investigated to a satisfactory conclusion.  The expression, “the South shall rise again” will not ring true.  Subterranean racists groups who have been flushed out by this election shall find themselves being prosecuted in a courts of law. It does not bode well, for violent bigotry. The days of unprosecuted white-hooded sheet-fests are over.

It is written: “…the first shall be last and the last shall be first…” All of the Catholic Churches who refuse communion to those who voted for Obama should have been more active over the past thirty years since Roe vs. Wade. There were many who could have worked tirelessly to get it overturned. Where was this policy when President Bill Clinton was in office and pro-choice? I never heard that those who chose to expose or ignore  priest-pedophellia could not receive Communion. This is just a smokescreen for fear and hatred. Fear is not of faith, therefore not of God. One who hates has the spirit of murder, according to the Word. What Bible are these people reading?  The spirit of error has been released upon the earth. Those in the pews should do well to read the Bible for themselves and not depend on the Pastor to interpret for them. Who is to say that the pastor is not a “flawed vessel?”

This next statement is a prophetic decree: “…accursed are the works of darkness…” and “…this affliction shall not arise a second time…” I will stand upon my decree from the Word of God against any random, demonic activity dressed up as righteousness in the earth.

“THE LADY DOTH PROTEST TOO MUCH…”

To quote the late , great William Shakespeare, why is Governor Sarah Palin still on the news repeating herself? Governor  Sarah Palin has said, ” I had nothing to do with the $150,000.000 worth of clothing given to me during the campaign and I will not be keeping the clothes.” Well, that should have been the end of her comments about “clothesgate.” From the moment Palin got off of the plane in outer Siberia,  oops, I mean Alaska, she has been beating the air regarding anonymous comments made about her. It matters little if her Evangelical following still adores her, it matters little if she was a lightning rod for her GOP presidential campaign, it matters little if she was not properly vetted or handled. She IS concerned about what “leper” or should I say “snake” was responsible for devulging those “erroneous comments” about her.

It does not appear as if Governor Palin is forward-looking enough, unless the purpose of beating these dead horses is to keep her face in the media as much as possible. I think that it is safe to say that nobody will forget Sarah Palin, should her face not appear daily. How could we? We were there when she did all that was asked of her in terms of ugly innuendo regarding President-elect Obama. We were there when she whipped the “fringe element” into a bloody-frenzy, we were there to hear all of the sordid allegations regarding President-elect Obama. Then, we heard this, “I look forward to working with President Obama on energy…” This does not sound like anyone who genuinly believed the acidic-sputum flowing from their lips (destined to incinerate reputations and campaigns.) This sounds like a serious political survivor, to me.

All I ask,  is that Governor Palin do herself a favor and stop stepping in poo. Let her breathe deeply and not have a knee-jerk reaction to the “betrayals” that she perceives. If she expects to have a political future, she needs to know that fire will die without oxygen. Fanning the flames will just make the fire burn more furiously.  She needs to think about that Senate seat which might become available soon, as well as the material that she has promised Tina Fey, and her journalism degree.  She also needs to conduct herself with dignity, should the GOP decide to make her the Republican “phoenix,” rising out of the ashes of their dead hopes and dreams for this past election.  She should read all that she can, be an apt pupil of geography, world history, and political history. She should, in short, spend her time doing anything but protesting something which will die, unless stoked by her incindiary, vindictive streak. This aimless, flailing about will not serve her well.

CONDOLENCES TO THE OBAMA FAMILY

I want to personally express my condolences to Senator Obama and his entire family for the loss of his beloved grandmother. We must all pray for him to have the strength to finish the race. This will be a bitter-sweet victory for Senator Obama, and I am sure that he and his grandmother said their farewells when he left the campaign trail to see her recently. I would like to offer a poem regarding the loss of a loved one. I know that his grandmother is watching from Heaven and will celebrate with the cloud of witnessess his victory tomorrow.

LOVE’S
DEPARTURE

Love never
announces
its departure.
It does have
death rales
towards
the end;
the sound
of a man
drowning
in his own
bodily fluids.
Love’s au revoir
never has
the stench of
end-stage cancer.
It is even
more fragrant in
the leaving.
Still…
so much
unfufilled hope in
its unfolded petals;
left listless in
the wind-
a withered brown.

RACE REACTION POST 11/04/08

It is doubtful whether or not McCain or Palin know what will be the aftermath of their “great racial divide.” Sarah Palin, who seems unfamiliar with cultures other than white and Eskimo, has succeeded in kicking up a brutal, underlying spirit of division, hatred; perhaps even murder. In Nashville,  during the Belmont debate, a black man was shot three times (with a BB gun) after being stalked by a “skin-head,” for wearing an Obama t-shirt.  One of these bullets hit his face. He survived. What McCain and Palin might not know is that for decades the Aryan Nation and white supremists have been waiting for a “race war.” I am sure that they feel that the time has come with Obama’s bid for presidency, and the excitement of the minority vote.  Here in Nashville, a black youth, proudly wearing an Obama t-shirt was told by an older Southern white man, ” take off that shirt, boy, there is never gonna be a black man as president.”

Do the Republican candidates, in their desperate attempts to keep a sinking ticket afloat, realize what they have unleashed? Sarah Palin has tapped into the ugliest spirit of hatred and murder that we have seen since the Civil Rights movement. She stepped out of the pages in time and laid a line of division, from which we will all have to heal. Now, should Obama win, how many of these people, who are running to buy guns, are  homocidal? The Obama assasination plot was hatched here in Tennessee. The freedoms that we seek in our privacy cannot be realized because of all of the screw-ball-racist-would-be-assassins that have been stirred up.

How much will it cost the Secret Service to protect a President Obama and his family? Conversly, black people will go ballistic if they feel that the election was stolen from Obama by McCain-Palin. How rabid, we do not know. Some of the young people who are voting for the first time have grown up on a diet of “gangsta rap,” and also have lived this lifestyle. They have invested themselves and their identities into Senator Obama. Who will take this away from them? Not this time, not without an incalculable blacklash.

At the McCain campaign rallies, where the attendees are John McCain’s “fellow prisoners,” we see and hear the virulent “shot-gun” politics which have its attendees with blood in their eyes. The effects of McCain-Palin tapping into the “lesser angels” of the people is something that the nation will have to deal with for a long time. This campaign itself has been very long. The Clinton camp went through the grieving process for awhile before joining with Obama for a unified Democratic party. How long will it take the McCain-Palinites to recover from defeat?

I say defeat because Senator John McCain always talks about fighting. All the time. Hmmm… Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, unattended. His anger is legendary and ugly. He should receive psychological help. Would anyone be able to survive being a POW for five years without Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? So, the fearless leader of the Republican ticket needs therapy. His side-kick, Governor Sarah Palin needs ethnic diversity sensitivity training. Her star will fade. She is not worthy of it. Talk about a polarizing figure. She’s not worthy to tie Senator Hiliary Clinton’s shoes, let alone finish shattering that glass ceiling!

If anything violent happens to Barack Obama, a civil war will ensue. There will be no winners here. Should the Republicans have a hard time moving on, the fringe element that Sarah Palin plays so well to, are capable of violence in the name of God. I have heard repeatedly that these people believe that Obama is the antichrist. I suggest that they reference the Bible carefully. They have no idea what they are talking about. Perhaps, we were not concerned enough when the disturbed young lady carved a “B” into her own face and made a false police report. This is a throw back to when a white  woman who alleged rape at a black man’s hands, resulted in a lynching. Sometimes, it was something as simple as an “uppity’ glance her way.

Why has Sarah Palin been allowed to tap into the ugliest hatred in a country where racism bubbles heatedly under the shallow ground? Why didn’t Senator McCain understand the fury that she had unleashed? There will be backlashes on both sides of this great divide. As I live and breathe, the paradigm shift in America is here and no amount of hate or violence will stop its momentum. The days of putting fear into black voters, in order to keep them away from the polls, are over. The days of throw everything including the “kitchen-sink” campaigning are over. The days of unbridled, unpenalized bigotry are over.

Republicans, step lightly. I advise you to do everything within your power to keep President Obama alive and well… The nation must heal on so many levels, and we are ill-prepared for the possible chaos of the race reaction post November 4th, just as we were when the levees broke in New Orleans during hurricane Katrina.
