To quote the late , great William Shakespeare, why is Governor Sarah Palin still on the news repeating herself? Governor Sarah Palin has said, ” I had nothing to do with the $150,000.000 worth of clothing given to me during the campaign and I will not be keeping the clothes.” Well, that should have been the end of her comments about “clothesgate.” From the moment Palin got off of the plane in outer Siberia, oops, I mean Alaska, she has been beating the air regarding anonymous comments made about her. It matters little if her Evangelical following still adores her, it matters little if she was a lightning rod for her GOP presidential campaign, it matters little if she was not properly vetted or handled. She IS concerned about what “leper” or should I say “snake” was responsible for devulging those “erroneous comments” about her.
It does not appear as if Governor Palin is forward-looking enough, unless the purpose of beating these dead horses is to keep her face in the media as much as possible. I think that it is safe to say that nobody will forget Sarah Palin, should her face not appear daily. How could we? We were there when she did all that was asked of her in terms of ugly innuendo regarding President-elect Obama. We were there when she whipped the “fringe element” into a bloody-frenzy, we were there to hear all of the sordid allegations regarding President-elect Obama. Then, we heard this, “I look forward to working with President Obama on energy…” This does not sound like anyone who genuinly believed the acidic-sputum flowing from their lips (destined to incinerate reputations and campaigns.) This sounds like a serious political survivor, to me.
All I ask, is that Governor Palin do herself a favor and stop stepping in poo. Let her breathe deeply and not have a knee-jerk reaction to the “betrayals” that she perceives. If she expects to have a political future, she needs to know that fire will die without oxygen. Fanning the flames will just make the fire burn more furiously. She needs to think about that Senate seat which might become available soon, as well as the material that she has promised Tina Fey, and her journalism degree. She also needs to conduct herself with dignity, should the GOP decide to make her the Republican “phoenix,” rising out of the ashes of their dead hopes and dreams for this past election. She should read all that she can, be an apt pupil of geography, world history, and political history. She should, in short, spend her time doing anything but protesting something which will die, unless stoked by her incindiary, vindictive streak. This aimless, flailing about will not serve her well.
